UPDATE (Mar 26, 12:05 PM ET): Passport Canada confirms that the network outage that affected the Passport Program is now resolved.
Passport Canada is currently experiencing a service outage and is unable to process customers' urgent requests. Service Canada Centres announced on Twitter early Tuesday morning that Canada's passport services are experiencing a "network outage" and that the organization is doing their best to fix the problem.
"Service Canada Centres – Passport Services are experiencing a network outage affecting urgent services. We are working to fix the problem as soon as possible," reads the tweet. Service Canada Centres have been responding to customer concerns related to the outage since Monday.

Passport delays can be devastating for travellers, especially to those who forked over extra money for express services to ensure that they would be able to get their documents in order by a specific date.
The news of the outage echoes a similar incident that took place back in February after a system failure prevented Passport Canada from printing urgent passports.
According to CTV, the failure was later revealed to be the result of a car accident in Mississauga which had reportedly caused significant damages to the "optic linkages" involved in running the organization's server.
Some would-be travellers suffered serious losses because of the delay. "Thank you for costing me thousands of dollars," wrote one customer in a heated Facebook post.
At the moment, no further details about Passport Canada's network outage have been made public. Passport Canada has instead been informing concerned customers on Twitter that it will provide them with updates as they come in, no doubt working tirelessly to resolve the urgent matter.
