Toronto Police are asking the public to help identify a group of suspects who nearly beat a man to death after he apparently spilled a drink at a bar last week.
The incident took place on September 23rd, in Toronto's Annex neighbourhood. Reportedly, a fight broke out, landing the victim in the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Now, police are looking for multiple suspects in what they say is an attempted murder case.
Police allege that the fight started in the bar, where someone spilled a drink. All the men were then kicked out of the bar but continued the fight outside in the parking lot. One of the suspects pulled a knife, causing the victim to fall to the ground. The suspects then began punching and kicking him and one eventually smashed his head in with a rock.
Police believe the brawl involved at least six people and the victim. They have now released the photos of the six suspects in order to get the public's help in identifying them.
The victim, who is a 27-year-old man, wasn't identified by police. But, police did provide an update on his condition, saying that he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries but is now stable.
They also didn't name the bar where the incident took place. but did say that it happened near Madison Avenue and Bloor Street - making it more than likely that the fight broke out at Madison Avenue Pub, a popular British-inspired bar in the city.
This assault marks at least the second major incident at the Madison Avenue Pub this year. In May, a woman was sexually assaulted on the bar's patio in the early morning. Police also asked the public for help in that investigation.
