Yesterday news broke that a home in Kitchener, Ontario had suddenly exploded around 9:00 AM. The explosion killed one person, identified as 58-year old Edresilda Haan, and critically injured one other, Edresilda's husband Udo Haan.

The neighbourhood roads and lawns of other homes were covered in debris from the explosion, including drywall and items from the home. The event has caused so much damage that 16 other residents from the area have had to evacuate their homes also.

The police have now stated that the incident on Sprucedale Crescent is now being investigated as a homicide. Both Haan and her husband were found in the backyard of their home after the explosion.

While the cause of the blast still remains a mystery, equipment was brought to the property on Thursday to begin sorting through the debris. This work will allow investigators more access to the property to fully understand what the cause of the explosion was.

Udo Haan still remains in the hospital during this time with critical injuries. Here's hoping there are answers for what happened to cause such a terrible incident.
