The TO twitter-verse went ablaze this morning when a single tweet alluded to a surprise performance from none other than the infamous Prince.
3RDEYEGIRL, the current backup band for Prince, who performed with the legendary musician this past weekend on SNL, tweeted out the following clue, which as promptly removed from the interwebs at 8:30am. Jill Krajewski was able to nab it before Prince supposedly took it down.
Prince pulled this tweet, but I caught it. A Toronto surprise is coming. Let's go crazy. pic.twitter.com/uu3vOm0FbK

All the word-jumble aficionados no doubt realized the 'OTNOROT' is simply Toronto spelled backwards, which put the rumour mill into high gear and got fans raving for some Prince.
The surprise Prince performance is supposedly going down at Massey Hall at 8pm, with entrance-wristbands to be handed out at 6pm at the venue, reports Global. Other sources claim tickets will be $10.
Get your booty in gear and head over to Massey Hall now, because screw work or school, it's Prince people. And you know people are already lining up.
UPDATE: Looks like the forecast for Purple Rain was false, as Massey Hall just tweeted out that the rumour of the Prince show is false. A possible misdirect to wean out the weak? Maybe, but probably not. See the tweet below.
In response to inquiries, we can confirm that Prince will not be performing at @masseyhall tonight.
