The general public is now officially able to buy tickets for Yayoi Kusama's hotly anticipated Infinity Mirrors exhibit in Toronto today.
Yeah, you know that dazzling mirror exhibition you've been seeing all over Instagram? It's making its only Canadian tour stop at the AGO in March where visitors will be able to experience six of Yayoi Kusama's kaleidoscopic environments at once. Tickets are available from 10:00 AM, but the sale opening comes with bad news.
Demand for this exhibit has been outrageously high all over the world, and Toronto has been no exception. When tickets for members of the AGO went on sale last month, a total of 14,000 people waited five or more hours before the art gallery apologized and announced a second members-only sale on January 9th.
And hype for the celebrated Japanese artist's only Canadian tour stop has only intensified as its March 3rd unveiling draws closer. To cope with the popularity, there will be a maximum limit of four tickets per transaction. They can only be purchased online and long wait times can be expected.
"There will be a VERY limited number of same-day timed tickets available onsite," reads the AGO's website, "but they are expected to sell quickly."
And the popularity doesn't stop once you're in the exhibit. According to the AGO, visitors will have a limit of 20 to 30 seconds in each of the six rooms, so have your Snapchat filters ready and your camera fully charged. The wait time for each room is estimated at 20 minutes, so you do have plenty of time to make sure your hair looks good before you're ushered in and out.
If you're interested in heading over to Yayoi Kusama's famed Infinity Mirrors exhibit, make sure you're online early with great wifi to avoid disappointment. Get your tickets here.
