Seafood City, A Massive Filipino Marketplace, Is Now Open In Mississauga

It's the first location in Canada.

It's finally here - the highly-anticipated Seafood City grocery chain is now open in Mississauga.

Located in Mississauga's Heartland Town Centre, the California-based Filipino marketplace is set in a 50,000-square-foot facility that offers everything from seafood, meats, fruits, vegetables, and traditional Filipino products.

There are also four fast-food stores inside the Seafood City - Grill City, Noodle Street, Crispy Town and Jollibee. According to the Heartland Town Centre website, the Jollibee opening date will be pushed to sometime in early 2018, despite previous reports that it would open this fall.

Mississauga was chosen as the first Seafood City location in Canada due to the large Filipino community in the area. Currently, there are about 700,000 Filipinos in the GTA, with Vancouver and Winnipeg also having significant populations.

"Our plan is always to be a Filipino town centre, a one-stop hub where our beloved customers can go for their basic needs," says a representative from Seafood City.
