While most of Ontario is expecting some pretty warm winter weather later this week, you shouldn’t get your hopes up just yet. The Weather Network has forecasted freezing rain tonight and into tomorrow morning, so make sure to leave your mitts out and give yourself extra time to scrape ice off your car.
Both freezing rain and snow are predicted to make many of southern Ontario’s roads extremely slick just in time for that morning commute. Highway 401 is one of the main roads that is expected to be affected and drivers should definitely give themselves more time to travel than usual.
Sadly, even though the rain is predicted to be over by Thursday morning, some lingering flurries will still be present that will continue to keep the roads and sidewalks icy. This means that you will want to exercise caution for late tonight and most of tomorrow until the weather starts to warm.
The areas that will be most affected by this freezing rain, is along the lakeshore and near the Greater Toronto Area.
However, the weather forecast for the rest of the week isn’t all bad and we can all have something to look forward to. After this awful spout of freezing rain, temperatures in Southern Ontario will be up to the mid-single digits in Friday, just in time for a nice, warm(ish) weekend.
We may not be lucky enough for a white Christmas this year, but we will be able to hit up some of those outdoor Christmas Markets and ice rinks this weekend without the negative weather!
