According to a recent study in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology, women consider men who have beards to be best suited for long term relationships.
The study, conducted at the University of Queensland in Australia, surveyed 8,520 women. The majority of women judged fully bearded faces as more attractive for long-term relationships. Interestingly, men with stubble were considered to be most attractive overall, but for less serious, shorter-term flings.
Dr Barnaby Dixson, the lead researcher on the study, summed up his findings in the Journal of Evolutionary Biology. "Our findings suggest that beardedness may be attractive when judging long-term relationships as a signal of intrasexual formidability and the potential to provide direct benefits to females," he said.
