The Don Valley Parkway is a source of complaint for just about everyone in the Greater Toronto Area. The fact that it’s only three lanes and has a lower speed limit than other highways like the 401 makes it one of the least favourite roads to drive to get around the GTA. We all know it’s other name, the Don Valley Parking lot.
Well a few days from now the DVP is going to be even more frustrating than normal. Because you won’t even be allowed to drive on it.
The entire thing will be closed while work crews go start doing maintenance on it after the winter it’s had to endure.
So when is this going to be happening, and how much of the DVP will this effect exactly?
The closure will effect the Don Valley between Highway 401/404 and the Gardiner Expressway.
The closure will start at 11 p.m. on Friday night and it won’t reopen until 5 a.m. on Monday morning in time for the start of the work week.
In case you didn’t get it there here it is in simple terms: the DVP is going to be closed all weekend long.
So yeah, that’s great… said no one who needed to get around this weekend.
But the work needs to be done so that crews can fix issues like filling in any cracks and pot holes with asphalt and inspect bridges for any sings of damage or structural issues.
So if you’re planning on trying to get around the GTA this weekend you may need to plan an alternative route.
