Like any good Canadian, "Degrassi: The Next Generation" is probably still one of my all time favourite shows. Growing up, the high-school drama always felt relatable, no matter how over the top the storylines got.
The show started back in 2001 and stopped airing only three years ago in 2015. Fans were obviously devastated that the teens of Degrassi C.S. were no longer renewed but with the full transition away from the original cast it felt like right time.
The cast met up earlier this year to shoot Drake's "I'm Upset" music video since the Toronto born singer and rapper is also a Degrassi Alumni. Back when Drake was still only known as Aubrey Graham, he played Jimmy Brooks a basketball star who is eventually paralyzed during a school shooting.
Members of the cast recently sat down with Global News where they shared the exciting news that the cast is planning on reuniting once again! The cast will be reuniting at Fan Expo this weekend back in Toronto and fans can actually meet them in real life!
That means this Thursday and Friday, you can actually meet Miriam McDonald (Emma Nelson), Shane Kippel (Gavin "Spinner" Mason), Cassie Steele (Manny Santos), Stefan Brogren (Archie "Snake" Simpson / Mr. Simpson), Pat Mastroianni (Joey Jeremiah) and Jake Epstein (Craig Manning).
Sadly, Drake is currently on tour and will not be in attendance but considering he is known for making a surprise appearance from time to time, we wouldn't put it past him. The cast also told Global that though Fan Expo will be a reunion, the "I'm Upset" video was a real high school reunion party for the previous cast.
If you're dying to meet some of the original members of the "Degrassi: The Next Generation" cast then you won't want to miss this opportunity.
Fan Expo is this weekend at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and tickets are starting at only $25 which you can get here. Remember though, the Degrassi cast will only be available on Thursday and Friday of the convention.
