The TTC will be shutting down subway service on Line 1 between St Clair West and Union stations on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, in order to do signal upgrades.
To make matters worse for commuters this weekend shuttle busses will only run between Spadina and St Clair West stations. That means no busses will be helping people get around in the downtown core.
The TTC is asking those who will be traveling this weekend to consider using the following alternative routes to avoid headaches:
- Line 2 Bloor-Danforth
- Yonge portion of Line 1
- 6 Bay bus
- East-west streetcars on College, Dundas, Queen and King Sts. to connect with the Yonge portion of Line 1.
The Toronto Police Service will also be temporarily restricting on-street parking on Spadina Road between Bloor Street and Dupont Street to keep both transit and regular car traffic flowing as smoothly as possible for all road users.
This is comes as TTC crews will continue the installation of the Automatic Train Control signal system, which is slated to be fully operational by the year 2020.
More TTC closures will be coming this month, line three in Scarborough will be shut down during the weekend of March 17-18 for track maintenance.
So if you're planning on heading downtown to the club or to do some shopping this weekend plan ahead in order to save yourself from a very frustrating trip.
