It was called the roaring twenties for many reasons. Some of those reasons were because the fashion was top notch, the parties were luxurious, and the dancing was necessary.
The era that inspired Great Gatsby is one that lives on well into the twenty-first century. This month in Toronto, Spadina Museum will be putting on a Gatsby Garden Party with music, food, and costumes to take a step back into the extravagant time period.
Tons of events happen at the party, including a costume contest so attendees can come dressed to the nines. There will be a screening of short films, a gambling tent, dancing and live music, in the true nature of a ritzy Gatsby party.
You and your friends can enjoy some fine cocktails and food, whether you decide to bring a 1920's inspired picnic or grab something from the available vendors. There will also be a photo booth where you can get an old-timey mug shot, as well as games of croquet.
The tickets for the event are on sale and only cost $12.50. The event is on the weekend of June 23 and 24, happening both days between 12:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
With school finishing and summer finally arriving there are lots of things to celebrate. Put your best dress or bowtie on and have a ball.
