If there's one thing Montreal might beat Toronto at, it's music festivals. But that might all change if Igloofest comes to Toronto next year.
The 11 year-old music festival is the biggest, and best winter festival in Canada and there are some clues that point to it coming to Toronto in late February.
If you take a look at the Toronto and East York Community Council agenda you’ll see that an October 25th staff report recommendation states Igloofest be granted permission to “operate a beer/wine garden, host a ticketed event, solicit donations and use special effects pyrotechnics at their events to be held on Nathan Phillips Square” from February 17th to 20th. This space is already used for some large events like the cavalcades of lights and could be an interesting location for the festival. It would also be very convenient because of how central it is.
Another clue that the festival might be coming our way, is that Igloofest has recently rebranded their French Canadian edition’s social media feeds as Igloofest Montréal, making it seem like there will be other Igloofests popping up *cough* Toronto.
