This Historic District In Ontario Is Transforming Into A Miniature Harry Potter World This Fall
Yer a wizard.
Wands at the ready — a night of magic, mystery and wonder is coming to Ontario, and all witches, wizards and muggles are invited.
The Canadian Cancer Society is hosting 'An Evening a Hogwarts' this fall for all fans of the Harry Potter series. From Nov. 3 to 4, The Machine Shop, a 40,000-sq.-ft. space within a historic district of Sault Ste. Marie — will be transformed into the whimsical world of your favourite boy wizard for an epic late-night adventure.
The old buildings, which are similar to those in Toronto's Distillery District, offer the perfect vibe and character for a Hogwarts transformation. The night will begin at Diagon Alley, where there will be magical vendors and shops to peruse through.
You'll even be able to buy your very own wand at Ollivanders, which will be selling high-quality wands during the event.
Next, you'll board a real train car of the Hogwarts Express through Platform 9 3/4 to begin your class tour. Upon arrival at Hogwarts, you'll take a seat in the Great Hall, participate in the Sorting Ceremony and indulge in a four-course meal among your professors and Dumbledore himself.
The remainder of the night will be spent working with your fellow classmates to earn points for your House. There will be various activities in store, including a quidditch game, where you can show off your Potter prowess.
Tickets are $100 per person and they will go on sale on Aug. 14. There will only be 50 tickets available for each house (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Ravenclaw) so make sure you get yours vefore they run out! All proceeds from the event will go towards the Canadian Cancer Society.
