As reported by CBC, at yesterday's city hall Disability Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee meeting, Toronto patio owners learned that their sidewalk patios will face a new set of restrictions, according to a new plan.
The draft plan suggests that the sidewalks would have to maintain a 2.1-metre clearway for pedestrians and people with disabilities on main street sidewalks, and 1.8-metres on less busy roads. The plan was created by the city's transportation services.
The plans are expected to be finalized in 2018, and business owners will likely have 2 years to adapt to the new plans, meaning the city will have to wait at least three more years before feeling the effects of the proposed changes.
