Newsweek released its extensive list of the world's best hospitals today.  Impressively, wedged right in between Massachusetts General Hospital and University of Tokyo Hospital sits Toronto General Hospital in seventh place.

Toronto General Hospital is one of eight hospitals that comprises Canada's University Health Network.  It also happens to function as the largest and most highly-funded research organization across the nation, as well as the largest transplant centre in North America.

Toronto General serves as University of Toronto's teaching hospital and is a leading disruptor in the field of transplantation research and innovation. The hospital has achieved countless "firsts", such as a triple organ transplant (double-lung, liver, and pancreas) back in 2015.

Toronto General Hospital is famous for its cardiac centre, named after Peter Munk, the founder of Barrick Gold, who donated $100 million to the hospital.  The Peter Munk Cardiac Centre is considered to be a "global leader" in both open-heart surgery and cardiovascular health.
