Some Torontonians are warning each other to avoid the Danforth this weekend, claiming that the street is dangerous after threatening notes were allegedly received by a number of Danforth restaurants just weeks after the tragic Danforth shooting.
According to posts circulating on social media, many restaurants in the Danforth areas a man in all black dropped off notes overnight threatening more violence in the area.
One photo posted to Twitter shows the note which reads "Danger Is Nearby & You Make The People Cry." News of the alleged threats are also circulating on Snapchat, where people are warning each other to stay away from the Taste of The Danforth and saying that the note received says "this is just the beginning.
The Taste of The Danforth festival is taking place this weekend, with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaking at the opening ceremonies tonight. The festival is expected to draw millions of people.
While the threats are circulating online, the Toronto Police and organizers of the festival have not released any statements regarding the alleged threat to the area or confirmed if there is any danger.
Following the shooting on July 22, The Taste of The Danforth organizers changed their security plan to have an increased police presence and ensure the safety of everyone attending the festival this weekend.
