Toronto Is Getting A Romantic New Park With A Heart-Shaped Pond (PHOTOS)

Montreal-based firm Claude Cormier + Associates announces the Love Park in downtown Toronto.

Toronto is getting a brand new romantic hideaway in the heart of the city. The Love Park is the city's latest urban green space project, which is set to completely transform York Street Park near the city's waterfront. Designed by the Montreal-based firm Claude Cormier + Associates, the Love Park will be a dreamy little oasis near Lake Ontario that everyone in the city can enjoy all year round.

The main attraction of the park will, of course, be the heart-shaped pond. The pond will be surrounded by greenery and a walking path. Renderings of the pond feature a circular planter in the middle filled which is filled with flowers. The Love Park also has covered seating and various structures designed for lounging and relaxing.

The firm says, "The Love Park project in Toronto is a deliberate effort to assert a public space of character that reinforces the specificity of the Toronto landscape, while introducing a unique signature, visible from the ground and from the sky, that expresses the spirit of the city."

Here are photo renderings of the Love Park and its features being enjoyed during all four seasons of the year. Sticking with the romance theme, the Love Park will even have a multi-purpose podium which,  as the rendering suggests, can be used for the perfect marriage proposal:

Construction for the Love Park is set to begin this year. It's one of several exciting projects slated for 2019 in Toronto, including a brand new market made entirely out of stacked shipping containers

The Love Park will be located on the north side of the Queen's Quay waterfront. It's one of two parks chosen for redevelopment by Waterfront Toronto in the Queen's Quay area.
