Are you a massive Star Wars fan? This May 4, Toronto will be having a Star Wars Day to celebrate the 41-year-old franchise.
Toronto was actually the first city ever to hold an organized celebration of Star Wars back in 2011. Held at the Toronto Underground Cinema, the one-day festival included a variety of fun Star Wars-themed activities, including a trivia game show, costume contest with celebrity judges and a theatre screening of showcase of tribute films, mash-ups, parodies and remixes.
Since then, Star Wars Day has become an annual tradition in Toronto and there’s always something new to look forward to. This year, the event will take place at The Rec Room, so fans can also try out the facility’s awesome arcade, games and entertainment on top of participating in Star Wars Day.
Currently, organizers are looking for volunteers, sponsors, cosplayers, entertainers and fans who would like to help with this year’s preparations. If you’d like to offer your time and services, you can send them a message on their Facebook page.
The event is completely fan-run and is not affiliated with Lucasfilm Inc. or The Walt Disney company, but it’s still a whole lot of fun. Advance tickets will be on sale soon, with Early Bird exclusives and VIP packages available. Even more, all proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Canada foundation, so your love for Star Wars will go towards a great cause.
