Starting today, (March 31st 2016) drivers should be extra cautious when it comes to parking their vehicles. The yellow tickets that appear on dashboards will cost you more then twice the price they use to be.

Fines will increase to $150 if you stand in TTC zones, block sidewalks, double park or block lanes designated for high-occupancy vehicles. Mayor John Tory believes this increase in fines will lower the traffic jams in Toronto: “By attaching a real price to blocking lanes of traffic with illegal parking, we will reduce congestion.”

Torontonians please pay extra attention to parking signs in the city. Parking enforcement will be very strict, those dreadful tickets will empty your pockets and ruin your day. Perhaps you should consider walking and take advantage of the The Toronto “Walking Distance” TTC Map
