It's no secret that living in Toronto is not easy on one's bank accounts. Whether you're a buyer or a renter, there's no escaping the sky high prices in the city.

PadMapper compiled a list of the most expensive cities to rent a one-bedroom apartment in Canada, based on median rent for each city in July 2016. The cities on the list are also among the top 25 most populated in the country.

Not surprisingly, Toronto ranked high on the list, landing the no. 2 spot just after Vancouver.
