After your drunk Halloween rampage Saturday night, you may have noticed that starting rates for cabs were not their usual $4.25.

In order to compete with Uber, city council has decreased the standard hailing rate by 25%, or 1$, to $3.25.“Toronto should have a competitive taxicab industry that serves both the public and drivers well. That’s why I supported Council’s decision to reduce the minimum fare paid by the public by $1,” announced Mayor John Tory.

So while some of us were dealing with Uber's surge rates, others were making use of this new policy that went into effect November 1st.

Hmmm...makes us ALMOST want to take cab.
