Just days after an Ethiopian Airlines flight crashed and killed 18 Canadians, another plane has crashed but this time on Canadian ground. A plane has crashed in the GTA in Markham, Ontario today. Markham Fire and Emergency Services announced the accident just 30 minutes ago on their Twitter.
"We are on location north of Buttonville Airport for an aircraft that has crashed just north of the airport," read the tweet from Markham Fire. "Two occupants are being treated by @YorkParamedics 16th Ave is closed". They are now asking the public to avoid that area as they deal with the accident.
The York Regional Police Duty Office also posted a tweet about the accident. They say that the roads are closed Eastbound and Westbound at 16th Avenue on Highway 404 because of the plane crash. According to police, the pilot is fine. The incident is now being investigated, leading to road closures.
The Hwy 404 exit to 16th Avenue will be closed, as well as the on-ramp to 404 NB from 16th Avenue. Police say that the roads and ramps will be closed for a few hours.

York Paramedics are also currently on scene. They announced in a tweet that they are responding to the accident and providing care. The paramedics also asked the public to avoid the area.

Officials are now investigating the incident. The cause of the plane crash has not been revealed yet.
