Over the weekend, police detained 25-year old Joshua Maier-McKenzie after he fired into a Danforth-area bar following an altercation with another man at the pub. Officers arrived on scene at around 2:30 AM Sunday morning after responding to reports of gunfire.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered that two men had gotten into a fight and that the fight had ended when one of the men pulled out a handgun and unloaded several rounds into the bar before fleeing. Thankfully, no one was injured by the gunfire.
Police were able to arrest Maier-McKenzie a short time after the shooting took place. The suspect was wanted by police for two other investigations - an attempted murder investigation which had been launched on February 13th and a domestic assault investigation which was launched on January 31st.
Further details will be provided as this breaking news continues to unfold.
