A fine for texting while walking could soon be implemented in Toronto.
The concept was debated on Thursday during a discussion about the city's new road safety plan. It called for the provincial government to place a ban on cellphone use while in motion on "any travelled portion of a roadway."
The motion was approved by a vote of 26 to 15, with Major John Tory in support of it. This development came soon after the emergence of Pokemon GO, which requires players to use their cellphones while walking.
At this time, there is no indication as to how hefty the fine will be.
