It's that time of year again! May 5th marks Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday celebrated worldwide. The origin of the event is to commemorate the Mexican Army's victory over France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Today, Cinco de Mayo has become associated with the general celebration of Mexican culture in both Mexico and the United States.
With summer (finally) on the horizon, Cinco de Mayo is the perfect excuse to get out and enjoy the sunshine while celebrating all that Mexico has to offer. From massive parties to food events and more, there are endless ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Toronto this year. Here are a few of the most exciting events.
The Porch // 250 Adelaide Street W
Celebrate with a view at the Porch's Cinco De Mayo event! The party starts at 12pm and goes til 2am, so make sure to take advantage of their taco specials to keep you going while you party.

El Loco Local // 9 Church Street
The festivities at this Mexican taberna kick off with a live mariachi band at 7:30pm. Load up on tacos, margaritas and tequila shots before DJ LQ starts spinning at 9pm.
Steamwhistle Brewing // 255 Bremner Blvd
You can party for a good cause with Steamwhistle Brewing. Featuring mexican eats, games, DJS, and more, all proceeds of this event go towards the Ontario Ride to Benefit Cancer. If beer isn't your thing, don't worry, they'll have plenty of margaritas and tequila to go around.
Tickets are $15 online and $20 at the door.
Early Mercy // 540 King Street West
With free cover all night, who could say no to Early Mercy's annual Cinco De Mercy event? The party will include a $5 Sol & tequila menu, as well as a "Mexican swag" giveaway starting at 10PM.
Cincofest // Various Locations
If work kept you in on the actual Cinco de Mayo, this mini bar crawl is your best bet! Taking place on Saturday, May 6th, this event runs at Baro and El Caballito and allows party goers to hop between both locations. Ticket price includes entry to both locations and two drinks.

Barrio // 884 Queen Street East
This east end party is pulling out all of the stops, including live mariachi, tequila flights, margaritas and an incredible patio. Best of all? Food is included in cover price.

Milagro // 5 Mercer Street
If you're all about the Cinco de Mayo food, Milagro is definitely the spot for you. With massive cantina platters on offer as well as tequila and Mexican beer drink specials, this is sure to be one of the tastiest events in the city.
Superkick’d Pro Wrestling Rock Show & Training Centre // 66 Fraser Avenue
If you're looking for a more unique way to spend your Cinco de Mayo, you'll love the Lucha Madness Cinco de Mayo party. Featuring wrestling and plenty of alcohol, this event is one you won't forget any time soon. Tickets are only available in advance, so make sure to get yours ASAP.
