20 Toronto Date Ideas Under $20 To Take Advantage Of This Fall
Treat your bae right!
There are so many things to do in the city, but sometimes it can be difficult to narrow things down, especially when you're on a budget. Although, here in Toronto a budget is no excuse to cut back on fun activities.
I have compiled a list of 20 date ideas that will cost you 20 dollars or less. You and your wallet can thank me later. ;)
Have fun Toronto!
1. Get artsy at Nuit Blanche
Nuit blanche is an awesome opportunity to see installations from all over the world for free! You'll get to explore the city with your significant other, and maybe even grab a late night bite from one of the many food trucks that stay open late for Nuit Blanche.
2. Go for a painting and wine night, but mostly wine
There are tons of places in Toronto that offer step by step paint classes for you and your significant other. And don't worry, if you're not artistically inclined they usually offer wine that will help make your art look a little better than it actually is.
3. Catch a flick at the Kingsway Theater
There's no shame in a movie date, especially when the weather is crappy and you're looking for a relaxing activity. Plus, who can say no to movie theater popcorn?! The Kingsway Theater offers discounted movies on certain nights of the week, for more info click here!
4. Geek out at one of Toronto's many
Toronto has a few bars that have free arcade games! You may have to pay for a couple of drinks in order to play, but it will be completely worth it for a night of fun.
5. Get into the fall spirit and go apple picking
There are so many apple orchards just outside of Toronto. Take a mini road trip and go apple picking with your special someone. Most orchards charge you for apples by weight, so if you're looking to keep things cheap, just pick a smaller amount of apples!
6. Go Coffee Shop Hopping
This is one of my favourite things to do in Toronto! Pick a few trendy coffee shops that you've been meaning to hit up for forever and set aside an afternoon to get caffeinated. Exploring new parts of the city with your S/O is always a great time.
7. Let loose at Dance Cave
If you and your bae are looking to get a little tipsy, head to Dance Cave! They offer 5 dollar cover if you have a student ID card, and their drinks are super cheap.
8. Play some board games at Point Bar
This is a great rainy Sunday activity to do with your loved one. Nothing is more romantic than completely destroying someone at Settlers of Catan while sipping a latte, right?!
9. Visit the petting zoo in High Park
This is one of my favourite and free things to do in Toronto. If you're dating an animal lover, then you should definitely take them on an adventure to see all the adorable animals.
10. Have a picnic in Trinity Bellwoods Park
Trinity Bellwoods is beautiful in the fall. Pack a small picnic
and maybe even a cheap bottle of wine and enjoy one another's company under the trees.
11. Laugh your ass off at a Second City comedy show
Second City offers student shows that are only $4.35 per ticket! You can see their schedule here.
12. Split a dessert at Cacao 70 Distillery
If you're dating someone with a small chocolate addiction, take them to Cacao 70. This cafe is catered to chocoholics, and their desserts are to die for.
13. Catch a sunset at Riverdale park
Riverdale has a seriously underrated view of the city, head there around sunset to catch a breathtaking Instgram opportunity with your loved one.
14. Create your own custom cookies at Sweet Flour Bakeshop
Grabbing food is always an awesome option, but getting to make something completely catered to your taste buds is even better! Sweet Flour Bakeshop allows you to create custom cookies with basically any toppings you can imagine. YUM!
15. Enjoy someand go on a mini road trip
Fall is the perfect time to enjoy some beautiful foliage. The only thing you'll need to spend money on is gas. Create an awesome playlist for your drive and have an amazing day with your S/O in nature.
16. Go for a nighttime visit to Philosopher’s Walk
There is something about the Philosopher's walk that is extremely Harry Potter esq. If you haven't explored this part of the city, I completely recommend it. And it's free!
17. Go on a street art adventure on Queen West
Obviously, graffiti alley is a great place to start, but there are so many awesome murals all along Queen West and Ossington. Be sure to bring along your camera to document your adventure together!
18. Finally put a lock on the Distillery District's love sign
Yes, this is super cheesy, but also extremely sweet. Show your special someone how much they mean to you by finally putting a lock on the love sign. This is also a great excuse to visit the adorable Distillery District.
19. Get competitive at the Refinery's trivia nights
The Refinery on Lakeshore Blvd. hosts trivia nights every Wednesday at 9PM. It is completely free to participate, but you may have to buy a beer. But don't worry, PBR is usually only around $4.00 ;)
20. Grab dinner at the Queen St. Warehouse
Everything on El Furny's menu is $4.95, which makes it the perfect location for a cheap and laid back date in the city!
