How To Have Fun In Toronto If You Only Have $15 In Your Bank Account

It's possible!

We all have those paydays where it seems like you're going to end up with $15 in your bank account after paying all the bills. This basically means you can use that excuse to not leave home for the next two weeks, or you can branch out and see how you can disperse the money. While both options are great, the latter sounds way better.

You may be thinking, "$15 in Toronto? Good luck!" but it really is possible. Of course, spending this all in one day probably isn't the best idea. But it is possible to get food, do an activity, and get a drink for this amount of money. Don't believe me? Just watch! We'll cover everything from What To Do, What To Eat, and What to Drink.

What To Do

There are so many things to do in Toronto, it's hard to narrow it all down. But free museums? Walking around a farmers' market buying nothing? That seems like a way to cheat the system, and we don't cheat. I know you want to spend the $15, so let's give you something to spend it on! Here are some options that definitely won't break the bank or put you in overdraft:

Ciné-Starz

Take a short drive to Mississauga juuust to see a $5 movie at Ciné Starz. Not kidding! And these aren't movies that were popular when our parents were young, these are brand new movies that come out in bigger theatres too! If you're feeling a little risky, you can buy a popcorn too.

Snakes & Lattes

Did you know that cover is only $5 at Snakes & Lattes?! That's $5 for unlimited board games and fun with your friends. I don't know about you, but board games bring out a side of me that nothing else does. The competition, the heat of the game, the fun, it's different than anything else. You can also get food and drinks here, but to stay on budget I'd recommend eating at one of the places below, or getting an espresso which is only $2.75.

Now on to the most important part, which is obviously the food and drinks. Because that's a whole outing in itself. From small plates to dessert to delicious cocktails, you'll be able to spend your $15 and still have a full stomach!

What To Eat

Ahhh, food. The thing we all look forward to most when waking up in the morning. I mean, I know I do. Anyways, like activities, there are so many food places in Toronto. But how many let you eat for a small price? Not many! There are so many spots where a drink is the amount of a meal which is no bueno. We want cheap but delicious food! So here are some great spots for those exact cravings.

Tractor Foods

Can you believe that this delicious, cheesy, eggy breakfast sandwich is only $5?!?!? I can't. For some reason, breakfast sandwiches are just always delicious. You really can't mess them up, and they definitely don't at Tractor Foods. Tractor Foods in Toronto is relatively new, as it comes from Vancouver. So check out one of their delicious and cheap breakfast sandwiches, you won't regret it.

Drupati's Roti & Doubles

We all know that food that doesn't look the best tastes the best. That is very true for the doubles at Drupati's. These huge pillows of dough are encased with curried chickpeas. Roll it up and you've got a filling sandwich that you'll want every single day. Not only is it vegan, but the flavours are to die for. The bread is so soft it practically melts in your mouth. And chances are you won't finish it, so you'll have some for later!

Sanremo Bakery

Imagine being able to buy five donuts for all the money in your bank account. I mean, it's so worth it. But if you don't want to spend that much money, then you can just spend $2.75 on one donut at Sanremo Bakery. Not only are their donuts actually ureal, but they sell those crazy lattes with Drake or Ryan Gosling's face on them. From nutella donuts to crazy donuts like the one you see above, you won't be able to just get one.

What To Drink

Of course if you're stressed about money, one way to calm down is to go out and get drinks with friends. Right? Anyways, most of the time drinks can cost as much as a meal which is not what we're looking for here. The best way to combat that is to check out happy hour spots! You wouldn't believe how many places in Toronto do happy hour, but you can save money and try out specialty drinks. Its the best of both worlds!

The Citizen

@thecitizen_toembedded via

Who doesn't love happy hour?! First of all, you get to save money on drinks and that in itself is priceless. At The Citizen, from Tuesday to Friday they offer $5 drink specials! I mean, could it get better? This happens from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., which is the prime time for drinks on a weekday. Grab a few friends and look at their drink menu. One is definitely enough for a Tuesday, so don't feel guilty for going home after that. Your bank account will love you.

Farmhouse Tavern

Imagine a restaurant hating Mondays as much as you do. Well, you don't have to imagine, because Farmhouse Tavern literally has a special called F*ck Mondays in which they celebrate on Sundays. Iconic. They celebrate this event every Sunday afternoon/night and they have a ton of deals that will blow you mind. These are their deals: From 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., they have $3 mimosas, from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. they have $4 Caesars, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. they have $6 craft beer, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. they have $7 cocktails and from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. they have $8 wine. As you can see, the later it gets, the more expensive the drinks become so start off early!
