If you walk outside right now you can already feel that the unpleasant chill of winter has left the air and the warmth of spring has arrived. We've finally escaped those brutal winter months and all that lies ahead of us is sunshine, April showers and beautiful May flowers!
I can't help but feel so much more content in the springtime and I'm sure I'm not alone. Spring just puts everyone into a better mood because we don't have to suffer every time we walk outside our doors and the heat of summer is within reach!
You and your BFF should make the most of this time of year by taking as many spring road trips as you can! There's tons of spots in Ontario that become even more gorgeous during the springtime so use this as a road trip bucket list for the spring and summer months ahead.
16. Visit the Chinguacousy Park full of weeping willow trees.
Located just outside of Toronto in Brampton is this gorgeous hidden gem. The Chinguacousy Park is full of gorgeous weeping willow trees! You can wander through the trees, past the duck ponds and through the gardens with colourful flowers while taking photos and admiring the natural beauty as you go.
15. Walk along the floating boardwalk at Point Pelee National Park.
Located just under 4 hours from Toronto is this gorgeous national park in Ontario. You can walk along this amazing 1 km long floating boardwalk that spans a scene marsh ecosystem!
14. Experience the real life Mario Kart track opening soon.
If you didn't already know, there's a go-kart track that will make you feel like you're racing in a real life Mario Kart game! They're currently constructing the track but they've announced that they're planning on opening it up officially around mid to the end of May.
13. Hike through the ancient forest on Cyprus Lake Trail.
Springtime is the perfect time to check out the best hiking trails that Ontario has to offer and this is definitely one of them. It's located near Bruce Peninsula and it will guide you on a wooden boardwalk through a 5 km trail past centuries-old trees, the gorgeous Cyprus Lake and the infamous grotto!
12. Walk under a cherry blossom trail at Spencer Smith Park.
Located by the waterfront in Burlington, Ontario is this magical cherry blossom trail that is perfect for a spring road trip! The trail is made up 50 sakura trees that transforms this path into a bright pink paradise.
11. Walk across the longest suspension footbridge at in Canada.
If you're up for a long road trip this spring, head over to Thunder Bay and walk along the longest suspension bridge in Canada! It spans for 300 feet across and hangs 152 feet off of the ground! If you're afraid of heights, you've been warned.
10. Visit the park full of magical weeping cherry blossom trees.
Kariya Park is located in Mississauga and is the perfect short road trip from the city centre. It's a tranquil getaway that is designed after a Japanese-garden. The main sight during the spring is their weeping willow trees that bloom in cherry blossoms!
9. Take a walk beside rushing rapids at the White Water Walk.
The White Water Walk is located in Niagara Falls and is the coolest hidden experience in the area. Walk along a boardwalk path with rushing rapids beside you, take pictures at the observation decks and wander through an underground tunnel.
8. Take a colourful picture in the Brockville Railway Tunnel.
The Brockville Railway was Canada's very first railway tunnel built back in 1860. It has since been shut down and they've transformed it into a unique destination that's covered in colourful lights that's perfect for pictures.
7. Take a short drive to see the beautiful Oshawa Peony Festival.
Every year the gorgeous peonies start to bloom in the Oshawa Botanical Gardens so they hold an entire festival to celebrate! Head over to Oshawa to see all the stunning colours of these fragrant smelling flowers in full bloom.
6. See a massive waterfall up-close and personal at Webster's Falls.
If you and your BFF are outdoors-y head over to Hamilton to explore the Spencer Gorge Conservation Area. You can hike through the beautiful trails and see the massive Webster Fall's up-close and personal!
5. While you're in Hamilton stop for a crazy burger at Hambrgr.
Hambrgr has a couple locations in Hamilton already and is beloved by all who visits. They make insanely large hamburgers topped with crazy things like Korean Fried Chicken, Flaming Hot Cheetos, Pulled Pork, and sooo much more!
4. Spend a night under the stars at Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve.
The Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve is an area dedicated to the best star sightings in the province. It's away from all light pollution so you can get the best views of the galaxy surrounding us without any invasions and you can sometimes even see the Aurora Borealis!
3. Road trip to Ottawa to see the magnificent Canadian Tulip Festival.
From May 11th to May 21st our great capital of Ottawa is transforming into a tulip filled paradise! See rows and rows of the most magnificently colourful and fragrant flowers at the foot of all the best monuments in the city!
2. Spend some time in the beautiful Terre Bleu Lavender Fields.
Located in the town of Campbellville which is just a 45 minute drive from Toronto are these gorgeous lavender fields! They're re-opening for the season in June where you can wander through the rows of fragrant, purple flowers, enjoy lavender infused ice creams and maybe shop some of their amazing products too!
1. Take in the view from the top at Dundas Peak.
Located just outside of Toronto is an amazing hiking trail in Dundas, Ontario. Once you get to the top you're rewarded with one of the most beautiful views of the lush forests below you. It's also the perfect place for a photo-op.
