There is nothing better than a trip with your best friend. You can leave the worries of your day-to-day life behind and just spend time with the person you trust most. No boys, no drama, maybe a little bit of wine, and pure bliss. 

One thing you may not know is how many secret places in Ontario there are for you to explore with your bestie. From ice caves that will literally have your jaw dropping to cute Yurts in the middle of nowhere, you'll have tons to do. 

See below for some of the top places I'll be checking out with my best girlfriend this winter and I suggest you do too. 

Northern Bruce Peninsula

Where: Bruce County, Ontario

Why you should go: Located north of Sauble Beach on the Georgian Bay, Northern Bruce Penninsula has become a very popular summer destination for people to check out. However, the real adventure exists during the winter season. Enjoy small cafes in the town and check out these secret cliffs with gigantic icicles hanging off the side. Sorry, but can I just mention how epic this would be for your Instagram feed?

Elora Gorge Conservation Area

Where: Elora, Ontario

Why you should go: Elora is a beautiful place to check out in the winter with your girlfriend and it's sure to keep you busy. With day activities such as cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and ice fishing you're sure to keep yourself busy! At night? Make sure you check out The Cellar Pub and Grill. I heard it's amazing. 

Glamp on 1,000 Islands

Where: Gananoque, Ontario

Where: Stoney Creek, Ontario

Rideau Canal

Where: Ottawa, Ontario

Why you should go: Call me cliche but I think every bestie duo should skate on the Rideau Canal at least one time in their lives. Also, Ottawa is a beautiful city to check out with your girlfriend. There are amazing restaurants, tons to sightsee, and even the parliament building to check out if you're looking to become a bit more educated in Canadian politics. 

Agate Beach

Where: Thunder Bay, Ontario

Matthew's Maple Syrup 

Where: Powassan, Ontario

Why you should go: Do you know what is amazing? Maple syrup. Do you know what is even better? Eating maple syrup with your best friend. This winter run off to Matthew's Maple Syrup in Powassan, Ontario for horse-drawn sleigh rides, maple syrup tours and of course tons of eating sweets!

Cranberry Marsh

Where: Muskoka, Ontario

Lumina Borealis

Where: Kingston, Ontario

Why you should go: Lumina Borealis is one of the most underrated adventures Ontario has to offer. It exists where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River and is a beautiful light adventure. You'll have the opportunity to walk through the entire display and takes lots of photos with your best friend. Also, there's a ton of different vendors so you can get your snack on!

Scarborough Bluffs

Where: Scarborough, Ontario

Torrance Barrens Dark Sky Preserve

Why you should go: I saved the best for last! Located in Lake Huron, Fathom Five National Marine Park is over 420 million years old! It features incredible dive sites (yes, you and your bestie can dive in the winter like the guy above) and also incredible trails and shipwrecks for you to explore. Even though going marine diving in the middle of winter may be the most 'extra' thing you and your girlfriend, it definitely will be the best!
