Lilacs are without a doubt my favourite flower. They're a beautiful shade of purple, they smell like heaven on Earth and they always mark the beginning of springtime!
Lilacs always brighten up the city, spreading their purple hues all over the city streets. It's always my favourite time of the year when the lilacs start to bloom because it's the official moment when winter is over and spring has arrived!
It's no surprise then that there's a festival that happens every year that celebrates this wonderful time of the year. Warkworth, Ontario hosts their annual Lilac Festival that kicks off at the end of May.
The Warkworth Lilac Festival will be hosting their opening weekend festivities on May 26th and 27th. Warkworth is located in the municipality of Trent Hills which is less than a 2 hour drive from Toronto.
The festival kicks off at the end of May but continues for a full month of festivities until the lilacs disappear for the summer months. You can walk along their beautiful Millenium Lilac Trail to see these fragrant flowers in bloom and either take a self-guided tour or a guided tour to learn more about them!
This festival has so much more than a beautiful trail full of lilacs to admire, they also have tons of events planned during the festival including a crafter's market, a Victorian tea, jazz shows, horse-drawn wagon rides, a photo show, an adorable purple piano open to the public, and so much more!
They also have a whole bunch of lilacs for sale that you can plant in your garden or bring into a vase in your home to liven up your space. You definitely don't want to miss out on these 30 days of stunning lilacs.
