This Ontario Town Is Hosting A Huge German Christmas Market In December

Get into the holiday spirit!

It's no secret that Christmas originated in Europe many, many years ago. While history books pinpoint the beginnings of Christmas celebrations in Italy, many elements of the Christmas that we celebrate today here in Canada came from Germany. One of those elements is the infamous Christkindl who was the original Santa Claus and brings all the presents to the children in Germany.

We've taken many of these words and traditions and made them our own but if there's one thing that Germany does during Christmastime better than anyone else is their Christmas markets! Their markets bring the magic of Christmas to life with their adorable huts selling holiday-themed goods, twinkling lights everywhere you turn, giant Christmas trees, and of course tons of food and drinks to indulge in. Germany has mastered the Christmas market but this year you don't have to hop on a plane to experience one yourself!

The Christkindl Market in Kitchener, Ontario is the probably one of the best holiday markets in the province to get you into the Christmas spirit this December!

The Christkindl Market will be taking place at Kitchener City Hall from December 6th-9th this year! Come and celebrate Canada's original festival of German Christmas this season with tons of amazing activities to enjoy while you're there.

There will be tons of wooden huts set up outdoors that will be selling holiday-themed gifts and goods, Christmas trees and wreaths for purchase, horse-drawn carriage rides, an outdoor skating rink, bands and choirs performing on their outdoor stage, and of course, tons of delicious food and drinks to indulge in while you're there!

There won't be any cost to enter the market but you'll obviously have to purchase any food, drinks, or gifts you want to buy while you're there. There are countless vendors that will be setting up shop at the event this year but to name a few to look forward to you can find Stickling's Bakery selling German baked goods, Gusto & Beckford Catering selling sausages and brats, Cobblestone Gallery selling Christmas decor, Deb's Designs selling handcrafted jewelry, EarthSplash selling soaps and candles, and so many others!

You definitely won't have a hard time finding fun and exciting stuff to do if you're looking to get into the fun Christmas spirit with a European twist this holiday season!
