This "River Of Lights" In Ontario Makes It Feel Like Christmas In August
A festive affair.
Christmas is arguably the best time of year. The gentle snowfall, the colourful lights, and the merry vibes make all of your problems seem to disappear, even if just temporarily. Perhaps the hardest part about Christmas is that it only comes once a year.
But Ontario may be the one exception to that - every summer in Port Colborne, the city holds a boat parade by the water. About 20 boats provided by the Sugarloaf Sailing club an Canada Steamship Lines are decorated with dazzling lights, and they truly make it feel like its Christmas.
The boat parade is just the start of it all, too - a massive fireworks display follows in the evening, led by the amazing RedBoss Pyrotechnicians. The best part? It's free for all!
Both the boat parade and fireworks are part of Port Colborne's Canal Days, which celebrates the history and heritage of the city's canal. There are boardwalks, desks, museums, entertainment games, and live performances to enjoy throughout.
This year, Canal Days will be held from August 4 to 7, 2017. For more information, please visit the Port Colborne website.
