When you think "Stampede", the first things that come to your mind are probably cowboys boots, horses, and plenty of plaid. This year though, Stampede is seriously shaking things up with the most diversity we've ever seen amongst headliners and performers. Calgary welcomes RuPaul's Drag Race contestants for LGBTQ+ Stampede celebrations.
As I'm sure you know by now, tomorrow, July 4th is the official kickoff to Stampede. Things are already getting crazy here in Calgary with plenty of tourists heading to the city, and the hustle and bustle of ensuring the grounds are ready to go.

Just this morning, former RuPaul's Drag Race contestant and world-renowned drag queen Trixie Mattel stopped by Global Calgary for an interview, where she talked about her love for Calgary, and the upcoming festivities.
"I've been to Calgary, I'm not kidding, like three times a year for the past four years. I think in Calgary, people just like big crazy drag. Everyone's really nice and I always mean to come and stay later. I love coming here because I can take my guitar and sing the theme to Degrassi and actually get the audience singing."
Trixie will be hosting and performing a country music show at the Palace Theatre on July 4th, along with Nice Horse. Tickets are still available at this link.
If you thought that was all the excitement Stampede has in store for the LGBTQ+ community, you thought wrong! Only July 13th, a few of your favourite former RuPaul's Drag Race contestants will be hitting up Cowboys for a 'Drag Me to Brunch' party.
The show will be hosted by Michelle Visage and Carson Kressly, and will feature performances by Trinity the Tuck, Ginger Minj, Brooke Lynn Hytes, and Kylie Sonique Love at the Cowboys Music Festival Tent.
Tickets are available at this link. General Admission to the show, which includes a pancake brunch, starts at $40, but you can also purchase add-on tickets to meet and greet the performers. Drag Queen tickets are an additional $40, and if you want to meet Michelle and Carson, get ready to dish out an extra $75!
These are the first events of their kind in Stampede history, so you won't want to miss out. Be sure to get your tickets ASAP!
