To get you up and active, we came up with a list of six easy winter walks in Calgary that are perfect this time of year. All of these spots have amazing views and remind us of a winter wonderland. Just bundle up, it can get cold. 

The weather outside may be frightful but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy it. Calgary is totally worth exploring this time of year. 

From the beautiful frosted trees to the fresh blankets of snow, winter in Calgary is perfection. 

The best way to enjoy this time of year is to go for a nice quiet winter walk. 

There are tons of great trails and parks around our city so to make your life easier, we came up with a list of our favourites. 

All six of these places around Calgary offer a nice and quiet winter walk with some exceptionally amazing views. 

So grab your winter coat, a mug of hot chocolate, and maybe even your dog and hit the trails. We promise it’s worth heading out in the cold. 

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park 

Address: 255001 Glenbow Rd., Cochrane, AB

Why You Need To Go: Just outside of Calgary is an awesome 3,200-acre park calling your name. It’s dog-friendly which means both you and Fido can enjoy a brisk winter walk.

Nose Hill Park 

Address: 5620 14 St. NW, Calgary, AB

Why You Need To Go: This spot is high above the city which means it’s the perfect vantage point to take in the wonderful skyline. It covers 11 square kilometres of the city’s northwest so it’s doable in just a few hours.

Bowmont Park 

Address: 85 St. NW, Calgary, AB

Why You Need To Go: This peaceful trail is everything if you find yourself needing a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The meandering trails wind through the northwest of Calgary near the Bow River giving you serious Frozen vibes.

Confederation Park

Why You Need To Go: This park is serene in the winter and features a cute bridge that is often lit during the holiday season. Just be sure to bring your camera as you’ll want to stop and take pictures.

Fish Creek Provincial Park 

Address: 114 Rd. Shawnee Pl SW, Calgary, AB

Why You Need To Go: Fish Creek Provincial Park is basically Calgary's winter wonderland. This place is perfect for walks or mini hikes. There are even frozen waterfalls that are worth checking out.

Edworthy Park 

Address: 5050 Spruce Dr. SW, Calgary, AB

Why You Need To Go: Edworthy Park is along the Bow River southwest of Calgary. This park has massive trees, rolling hills, and some of the best outdoor walking trails in the winter.

Now you have no excuse to not go on a walk. Maybe even try making a date out of it. The views are romantic and the chilly weather is the perfect excuse to snuggle up with your partner.
