If you and your friends are anything like me and my friends, chances are good that your group chats have been full of conversations trying to make spring plans. Now that school is finally done for another year, you guys may be able to get together more than once every 2 months.

Most people like to get the gang together for food and drinks every now and then, but the more ambitious and adventurous amongst us like to attempt to plan road trips that actually involve leaving the city.

Usually, when Albertans plan a getaway, it's to Banff or Jasper to explore the mountains and soak in the hot springs. While that can be fun, there's way more to see around here than just that! Go tubing down a new river, relax in a botanic garden, or get lost in Canada's only sunflower maze!

With all these options, you've got some tough decisions ahead of you! Start hitting up your BFFs, and plan which destination you'll hit first:

1. Floating down the North Saskatchewan River

Since the weather's been so nice lately, you'll defs want to take advantage of it! Grab a tube or a canoe, pack some snacks and sunscreen, and take off down the North Saskatchewan River! You can start in either Devon or Genesee, and spend the day laughing and soaking up the sun.

2. Visit the World's Largest Dinosaur

If you're down to make the drive to Drumheller, you and your bestie can make a pit stop at the World's Largest Dinosaur. Climb all the way to the top for a super cool photo op, and spend the day adventuring around the hoodoos.

3. Take in the beauty of the U of A Botanic Garden

Seeing as Alberta is made up of a lot of prairie, you definitely want to take time to appreciate the extra beautiful areas that are hidden around the province. The U of A Botanic Garden is a stunning, tranquil spot that looks extra radiant in the springtime. Bring along your camera and snap some new candids for your IG feed!

4. Get some fresh fruit from Happy Acres U-Pick

Fruit is a delicious snack, but it tastes even better when you know it's fresh, and you picked it yourself! Happy Acres U-Pick, located in Spruce Grove, is the perfect spot to visit if you want to eat fresh. Spend the day picking apples and berries, and pet some cute baby animals!

5. Visit Discovery Wildlife Park

Located in Innisfail, is Discovery Wildlife Park. This spot is home to 40 species of orphaned animals, including camels, lions, ostriches, and more! If you're sick of visiting the Calgary and Edmonton zoo's, this may just be the perfect road trip that will get you in touch with nature and your favourite animals.

6. Take a hike in Kananaskis Country

If you two are the outdoorsy type, you could go the cliche route and take a drive out to Kananaskis Country! If you live in the city, a trip out and a hike through the mountains could be just what you need to relax and refresh your mind. No matter if you're a beginner or an expert, you'll find the perfect hike.
