In case you needed more reason to stay inside and social distance, a Calgary 7-Eleven employee just tested positive for COVID-19. Customers are now being warned and employees have been asked to self-isolate for 14 days. The employee was working on many days throughout March and may have come into contact with several people.
The latest case in Calgary involves a 7-Eleven employee. According to Global News, this employee was working in a downtown store for several days in a row while carrying the virus.
The store, located at 435 4 Ave. S.W., has since been temporarily closed.
A public statement has been posted on the store's doors explaining the situation to customers.
The note, obtained by Global News, writes that “the health and safety of our customers, employees and the communities we serve is the top priority for 7-Eleven Canada.”
It goes on to confirm to the public that en employee did in fact test positive for COVID-19.
Any customer who may have visited the store between March 4 and March 17 is now being told to contact Alberta Health Services.
Following the positive test result, the store closed in order to “thoroughly clean and sanitize the location.”
In addition to the cleaning, 7-Eleven Canada is now working with local health authorities to determine their next steps.
The store aims to be operational again on or before April 7, 2020.
While the store is not operational, staff from the downtown location are bing asked to self-isolate with pay for the next 14 days.

This convenience store employee isn’t the only new case of the novel coronavirus. An Alberta doctor also tested positive for COVID-19 while they were allegedly seeing patients.
In Edmonton, some nurses will no longer swab patients for the virus unless they get N95 masks, which AHS says they don't need.
