A Calgary CFL Player Had His Championship Rings Stolen From A Truck

Police are asking for help finding them.

Calgary should be on the lookout for any championship CFL rings they come across that look too good to be true. A Calgary Stampeders' championship rings were stolen from a truck on Thursday, January 2. Police are asking buyers and sellers of sports memorabilia to be on the lookout for Bo Levi Mitchell's two stolen rings.

Mitchell is a Quarterback for the Calgary Stampeders CFL team.

According to police, there was both a 2018 Grey Cup ring and a 2018 CFL Most Outstanding Player ring stolen out of a truck last month.

Police arrested a suspect they found on CCTV images from Calgary Transit but they didn't find the rings.

Calgary Police Service Cst. Sean Lynn said in a statement that given “the uniqueness of these rings, it is highly likely that someone in our community knows where they are or will come across them,”

“These rings represent more than just a piece of jewelry, they represent significant accomplishments and we would all like to see them returned to the rightful owner.”

While Mitchell is from Texas, he's played all eight of his career CFL seasons with the Stampeders. In 2018, he won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award after helping to lead the Stampeders to win the Grey Cup.

Police have asked anyone with information about the rings to contact them. You can submit tips anonymously, too, through Crime Stoppers.

The 2018 championship was played in Edmonton where the Stampeders won against the Ottawa Redblacks.

In 2019, the Grey Cup Championship was actually in Calgary. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers won over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
