Who doesn't love a good colouring book? This month, the entire Calgary tower is turning into a giant canvas for your creativity to shine on. They're holding a colouring contest and the winners will get their creations put up in lights on the iconic building.

Calgary Tower is looking for the most imaginative, inspirational, and meaningful designs out there, and it's super easy to apply to be featured.

Simply download their design template, fill it in with colours by Photoshop or by hand, and post your masterpiece on Twitter or Instagram. Use the hashtag #MyTowerLights, and don't forget to include a short description of what inspired your design.

"We understand that self-isolation can be tough, so we have a fun contest that you can participate in from the comfort of your home," said Calgary Tower in a statement.

You can add up to 16 different colours, but Calgary Tower says to make sure your design can actually be replicated in real life.

"The easier it is to translate into a real show, the better your chances are of winning," they write.

Pictures of particularly inspired designs will be shared on the Tower's social media.

Meanwhile, the winning designs will light the skies on Sunday, March 29, Friday, April 3, and Thursday, April 9.

The pandemic has tons of places in Calgary closing down, and the Tower is no exception. But although you're no longer able to visit, at least you'll have something pretty to look at during eveningtime.

And I don't know about you, but I was big into colouring back in the day. Having my more-than-mediocre sketches come to life on one of Calgary's biggest icons would be a dream come true.

Alberta's really sharing the love in this hard time, and they're doing much of it through their light shows.

While there's not quite as much creative liberty, Edmonton is putting on a week-long light show in honour of their healthcare workers.

What are you waiting for? Paint the town and bring a bit of light and fun to the city. It's an easy way to make the most out of staying indoors.
