If you've ever thought about a career working on the frontlines of Canada's border, you're in luck. The Canada Border Services Agency is holding job fairs in four provinces from January to March. If you land the job, the pay can get pretty high.
Recruitment events will be held in Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Newfoundland between January 17 and March 29. You can find the complete list of the dates and locations for these events on the protection agency's website.
Some of these hiring fairs are open only to specific groups of people. There are two francophone events being held in Toronto and Mississauga on January 17 and January 31, and a bilingual event being held on March 28 and 29 in Montreal.
Others are being held exclusively for women who wish to join the ranks of these officers. These events are being held in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland on January 21 and in Chilliwack, B.C. during the Fraser Valley Women's Expo on February 28 and 29.
If you decide to join their ranks, you'll attend the CBSA College. There, you'll receive paid accommodations and meals, as well as money for living expenses while you're being trained.
As a trainee, you'll receive a salary between $64,234 and $71,525. Once you complete a development program at a port of entry and become a full-fledged officer, your salary increases to $82,411.

CBSA officers can find work at any of the 1,100 points of entry along Canada's border, including airports, highways, and marine terminals.
There are also officers working in 37 international locations. The agency currently employs 14,000 people.

There is a wide variety of positions open for applicants.
There are career opportunities related to science and technology which include alcohol and tobacco characterization, customs analysis, and forensic document examination.
If you want a more hands-on position, you can work in the field of border management, which includes risk assessment and investigations. You can even become a detector dog handler.
