Nearly Every Canadian Province Will Be Hit With Snow This Weekend And It's Almost May
It may be spring in Canada, but the weather isn't letting the new season take over. Winter is very much still a thing in Canada – so much so that snow is forecasted for almost all provinces in Canada this weekend. Here we go again, winter is coming back.
Provinces across Canada are forecasted to recieve snow this upcoming weekend. From the west coast to the east coast, it looks like nearly no province is able to escape winter's reign on the country this weekend. May is only days away and summer is just on the horizon, but it's going to feel like we're still stuck in the middle of winter this weekend.
BC, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and PEI are all expected to see some snowfall or flurries this weekend according to the current weather forecast. As of now, this means that Nova Scotia will be the only Canadian province that was able to get away from the snowy winter weather.
So how brutal is this snowfall? As much as we wish it was just a light coating all around, it is expected to be significant in several provinces. Up to 20 or 30 cm of snowfall accumulation is predicted for parts of Ontario, Alberta and Quebec this upcoming weekend.
In Alberta, snowfall is in the forecast for the southern part of the province. Banff is expected to receive up to 20 to 30 cm, while Calgary will see 10 to 15 cm.
The Northern areas of Ontario will see up to 20 cm of snowfall. Regions that are near the Quebec border and Quebec city Rouyn-Noranda are expected to see up to 20cm of snow, as shown by the map from The Weather Network below.
Parts of Quebec will be hit with up to 20 cm of snowfall this weekend and Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for certain regions.
On the west coast, even parts of BC will see snowfall from 5 to 10 cm, which may be a surprise to many. Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement today.

On the other side of the country, the Maritimes region will see some snowfall as well. Newfoundland will continue to experience winter weather. This past week, Environment Canada issued weather warnings for the province due to snow, freezing rain and ice pellets. Parts of New Brunswick will see snow-rain showers, according to The Weather Network. Prince Edward Island will see mixed precipitation with snow flurries in the forecast, says The Weather Network.
In the central part of Canada, Manitoba and Saskatchewan are forecasted to see some light snow, which is a big change from the warm, 20ºC-like weather they were experiencing previously.
If you needed any further proof that the winters in Canada are harsh, this spring forecast will definitely do the trick. Since spring is clearly not happening right now in the country, we're just counting down till summer at this point.
