Shania Twain 

Shania Twain, also known as Canada's pop princess, was actually born Eilleen Regina Edwards. She changed her name to Shania in 1994 to pay tribute to her Ojibwe roots.


Drake was born in Toronto as Aubrey Drake Graham. When he rose to fame he decided to drop two of his names and just go by Drake.

Shay Mitchell

Shay Micthell didn't exactly change her name, she meshed them together. She was born as Shannon Ashley Garcia Mitchell. While growing up her family and friends mixed Shannon and Ashley to get her nickname; Shay. When she became famous she decided to exclusively go by Shay Mitchell.

Nina Dobrev 

Nina Dobrev's real name is Nikolina Konstantinova Dobreva. She has said she shortened her Bulgarian name in order to make her path to stardom easier.

Ellen Page

Ellen Page decided to drop a few of her names when she started acting. Her birth name was, Ellen Grace Philpotts-Page. She removed her middle name and her hyphenated last name.

The Weeknd 

When most people hear the name The Weeknd, they think it's a band. It's not. It's just one Canadian dude named Abel Makkonen Tesfaye. While he hasn't officially changed his name, The Weeknd is his stage name.
