Canadian Woman Gets Arrested After Winning The Lottery Jackpot With A Stolen Credit Card

A 33-year-old Canadian woman's fortune quickly turned into fraud charges last week when it was discovered that she purchased a jackpot-winning lottery ticket with a stolen credit card. The woman tried to claim her prize in St. John's, Newfoundland last week - instead, she was handed five counts of fraud and two counts of possessing a stolen credit card.

CBC reports that last Wednesday, local police received a call from a man who had his wallet stolen. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the man's credit cards had been used to make several purchases in the town of Paradise, Newfoundland.

One of those purchases was a winning lottery ticket. Police did not disclose the amount that was won, but they did say it was "large". Most importantly, the woman didn't get to keep the money.
