Home sweet home! While there are plenty of Canadian A-listers living in their home country, there are also tons of celebrities living in Canada that weren’t born in the Great White North. Whether they started their adventure in Canada because of work obligations, or because they fell in love with the scenery, these stars have all called Canada home at one point.
There are also celebs, like Tom Hanks and Cindy Crawford, who love to spend their summers in Canada and have even purchased their own vacation properties in the country.
Here are a few A-listers who have made their roots in Canada a little more permanent.
According to the Ottawa Citizen, Tom Cruise spent part of his childhood in Beacon Hill, Ottawa. His father took a job as a defence consultant with the Canadian Armed Forces. He attended Robert Hopkins Public School from grades 4 to 6 where it’s reported he started his journey with drama.
Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan
Back in 2013, when Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were still married, the couple and their newborn daughter relocated to Vancouver for a few months, the Vancouver Sun claims. Dewan was filming her TV series The Witches of East End.
Tatum was even spotted picking up lunch for his family at a local Subway.
Gene Simmons Family
Gene Simmons shared his family’s move to their Whistler home on Twitter saying, “Shannon finally finished building her dream house.”
Alternative Nation also discovered a tweet from their daughter Sohpie Simmon, who penned, “Partially moved into my new house in Whistler incredible, beautiful, peaceful.”
Meghan Markle called the streets of Toronto home before embarking on her royal adventure. The 38-year-old Duchess starred on the Toronto filmed drama Suits for nearly seven years.
The city is also where she was first spotted in public as a couple with now-husband Prince Harry.
She called a three-bedroom, million-dollar house in Toronto’s Annex, home.
Drake isn’t the first celeb to own impressive property on Toronto’s Bridle Path. After falling in love with wife Manuela, Prince lived in a $16.9 million home in the neighbourhood, according to the National Post.
They owned their property until their divorce back in 2007.
Most know this British actress for her role in the Harry Potter franchise as Professor McGonagall. However, she spent a lot of her career performing in Stratford, Ontario.
According to CBC Smith spent 1976 to 1980 on stage at Stratford theatres, calling the city and it’s festival “a very stimulating place to be.”
