Canada has produced some incredible singers and actors who have made a huge impact on the entertainment industry. A large number of celebrities come from big and well-known cities like Toronto and Vancouver, but there are also a handful of people who were born and raised in tiny cities across the beautiful country of Canada. Here are 10 celebrities who come from small cities in Canada

Jim Carrey

Carrey was born in Newmarket, Ontario in 1962. He also lived in Scarborough and Burlington as a child, too.

Avril Lavigne

Lavigne was born in the small city of Bellville, Ontario in 1984 and moved to an even smaller town called Greater Napanee when she was five years old.

Justin Bieber

Bieber was born in 1994 in London, Ontario at St. Joseph's Hospital but was raised in Stratford, Ontario until he was picked up by his agent, Scooter Braun.

Celine Dion

Dion was born in 1968 in a very tiny town in Quebec called Charlemagne. Of course, she's bilingual in French and English since she grew up in the French province of Canada.

Shawn Mendes

Mendes was born in 1998 in Toronto but was raised east of the Six in a city called Pickering.

Mike Myers

Myers was born in Scarborough, Ontario in 1963. And he went to two high schools in Scarborough, first at Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute, but ended up graduating from Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute.

Michael Bublé

Bublé was born on the other side of the country in Burnaby, BC in 1975. His talent was actually discovered by Brian Mulroney, a former Prime Minister of Canada.

Sandra Oh

Oh was born in Nepean, Ontario in 1971 and went to Sir Robert Borden High School. She went to college at the National Theatre School of Canada located in Montreal. She loves to flaunt her Canadian roots today.


Deadmau5 was born in 1981 with the birth name Joel Thomas Zimmerman and he comes from the beautiful tourist destination of Niagara Falls, Ontario. He attended Westlane Secondary School in the city, too.

Bryan Adams 

Adams was born in 1959 in Kingston, Ontario and was raised in Ottawa where he went to Colonel By Secondary School. Then as a teenager, he and his family moved to North Vancouver for his father's job. He certainly has a lot of Canadian pride.
