Carolina Panther Cam Newton Is Finally A Man Of The Year Nominee & Fans Are Already Hype

Cam Newton may be dealing with some injuries at the moment, but that didn't stop him from being nominated for Man of the Year. The legendary Carolina Panthers QB is in the running for the 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year award and fans are showing a great deal of support for him on Twitter.
The Carolina Panthers (who's coach was just fired) is lucky to call Cam Newton their QB. He has achieved so much over the years, earning him the titles NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year (2011) and NFL MVP (2015). Even though his season ended due to foot surgery, he has not been forgotten.
Cam is in the top 100 all time for these career passing categories: yards, yards per game, yards per attempt, touchdowns, game winning drives and comebacks. So it makes sense why he has the noble honor of possibly receiving the WPMOY award.
Not only is Newton a stellar player on the field, he is also recognized for his generous contributions to the community, including a $150k donation to three Charlotte schools and giving away 180 bikes to children for Christmas. He clearly uses his fame for the greater good of society.
People love Cam for many reasons and he is getting an overwhelming amount of support on Twitter. Fans are totally rooting for him so we think he stands a pretty high chance of winning.
It also doesn't hurt that he is one of the most recognized players in the NFL right now. Maybe even the Hall of Fame is in the cards.
This true fan is blocking out the haters in a Tweet that says, "People outside of NC/SC can hate all they want. It only shows us your true colors. Cam has done more for the cities of CLT/ATL and surrounding communuties than just about anybody. He’s a good man and deserves this nomination. #KeepPounding."
Even Walter Payton himself would be proud.
This user agrees, stating in a Tweet that she's "So happy to see that the @NFL is recognizing @CameronNewton and what he does for our community! Walter Payton would be proud!"
This Twitter fan puts it plain and simple - in the form of a GIF of Lebron James saying "It's About Damn Time."
Cam is running up against players including Devon Kennard of the Detroit Lions, Pierre Desir of the Indianapolis Colts and Blake Martinez of the Green Bay Packers. Stay tuned for the Man of the Year announcement on Feb. 1, AKA Superbowl eve.
In other sports news, the Raptors just announced their championship ring bundle and it's under $50.
