You might not recognize the name Elsa Pataky when you first hear it but odds are you're very familiar with her Hollywood husband Chris Hemsworth. A model and Spanish megastar actress in her own right, Pataky has been married to the older Hemsworth brother and Avenger actor since December 2010.
While the couple is pretty low key about their relationship and family, they are by no means secretive. If you look through both of their Instagram accounts you can see photos of them together with their 3 kids just having fun.
And while the world get's to hear from Chis via interviews all the time, it was Elsa who got open and honest about her life and marriage to an A-list movie star.
She sat down with Vogue Australia for their May 2018 issue and spoke on what life was like for her and Chris before the fame. She said, “In the beginning it was beautiful – when I met him he wasn’t known at all and I grew with him and experienced all his successes and changes, and then he became just so huge and I’ve been sharing that too,”
The Spanish actress continued on telling the magazine that she married Chris before he was a household name. “Going through every moment and being there with him with every success was actually a good thing – we grew together.
Adding, "It’s difficult when you go from being an unknown person to a very known person and all the changes that come with that.”
When reflecting on their rise to fame and starting a family all happening within the same year, Elsa says "We did everything very quickly – I don’t know how we survived as a couple. We were married and then a year after we had kids. It puts a lot of pressure on a marriage, but we came out good because there is a lot of love between us and we are very strong personalities but love each other so much. We make it work.”
“So I think our years together have been great. Every marriage has ups and downs – it’s constant work to be in a successful marriage and stay together forever. Chris’s parents have been together all their lives, and that’s such a beautiful thing, and their families are so close.”
As for Elsa and her career, after taking a hiatus to start her family she's back on the TV screen again with her lead role in a new Netflix series Tidelands! It'll be Netflix's first Australian original series.
The show is being called a supernatural crime drama and follows a former criminal as she returns home to the small fishing village of Orphelin Bay. When the body of a local fisherman washes ashore, she must uncover the town’s secrets while investigating its strange inhabitants, a group of dangerous half-Sirens, half-humans called “Tidelanders.”
Production on the show has already started.
