JoJo Siwa's Makeup Line Has Been Recalled Across Canada For Potential Asbestos Contamination

Over the past few years, YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa has quickly risen to fame. The 16-year old got her start on the hit show Dance Moms, but also began releasing music, started her own YouTube channel, and has even released a makeup set. Claire's announces JoJa Siwa makeup recall due to asbestos contamination.

On June 24th, 2019 Health Canada sent out an expanded recall on several products from Claire's, including eyeshadows, compact powder, contour palettes, and the JoJo Siwa makeup set.

According to Health Canada, "Testing indicated the possible presence of asbestos fibres in product samples. As of June 13, 2019, the company has received no reports of incidents in Canada."

The makeup line had been previously recalled in the United States due to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issuing a  warning saying that the products had tested positive for asbestos.

When news of the contamination broke, Siwa took some time to prepare a statement to share with her fans and followers about the unfortunate incident. Siwa posted a minute and a half long video to her YouTube channel on June 15th explaining the situation.

"This product is something that, with a lot of things, that I put my trust into other people’s hands. We are working really, really hard to make sure that this product is recalled and off all shelves. And also that anyone who has this product, you can get a refund... If it’s used or it’s unused, you can get a full refund.”

On a much lighter note, Siwa is currently on her D.R.E.A.M. tour, which is taking her all over North America to sing and dance with all of her fans. If any Canadians are interested in seeing her, she'll be in Vancouver on August 20th, along with mother-daughter duo The Belles.
