Not every spelling mistake you make is going to be caught by spell-check or the human eye. But thankfully, the good people of the internet are always there to point them out. Recently, a newspaper in B.C. made an unintentionally hilarious error in their advertisement for a local Christmas fair. The Comox Valley Record typo accidentally invited everyone to take photos with Satan at a holiday event in Courtenay, B.C.

The paper was only printed on November 21, but the internet has wasted no time roasting them for it. The people of the internet don’t let anything slide, spelling mistakes included.

The advertisement, which got significant attention after it was posted on Reddit, accidentally highlighted "Photos with Satan" instead of "Photos with Santa" as one of the activities at Courtenay's Christmas fair.

I don't know how you spend your Christmas, but I doubt it is with that man in red. The Comox Valley Record wasted no time posting a statement on its website, addressing the unfortunate mistake.

Sadly, it's too late to fix it and the damage has been done. It has already been shared "far and wide on social media," says The Record.

"There is no excuse for it, and we aren’t about to use this space to make any," reads the statement.

Downtown Courtenay BIA tells Narcity that their team has been made aware of the mistake, which they called a "surprise". However, they were understanding that at the end of the day, mistakes happen.

“The Downtown Courtenay BIA was just as surprised as anyone else to find the typo in our local paper, the ad was not created by us or proofed by us and it was an unfortunate mistake. That being said we understand that these things happen and we are happy that everyone knows when the parade is this year,”  Executive Director of DCBIA, Catherine Thompson, told Narcity via email.

The internet is living for this mistake and to be honest, a lot of people wish it were true.

Some people have even said that someone should dress up as Satan and show up to the Christmas fair anyway.

"On the bright side, everyone in the Comox Valley and beyond knows when the Courtenay Christmas parade is… and the Captain Thunderpants concert should be a complete sell-out. So there’s that," wrote The Record.

Even though it was a simple mistake, it is nice to have a chuckle about it. At least they can laugh at themselves a little for it, too.

Sorry to disappoint anyone who thought Satan was making a special holiday appearance in Courtenay. Maybe in 2020.
