This Brief Hike In North Carolina Leads To Insane Views Of A Massive 411-Foot Waterfall

You don't even have to work hard for these views.
Cool Places To Explore In North Carolina Include A Massive 411 Foot Waterfall

Sometimes it's hard to understand how tiny we are in comparison to some of nature's boundless wonders, but once you're witnessing a waterfall cascade from the heavens you'll begin to realize. If you're looking for cool places to explore in North Carolina, you'll want to add this massive 411-foot waterfall to your bucket list — because the views are totally worth it.

Whitewater Falls in Cashiers, NC is the highest waterfall east of the Rockie Mountains, and it's overflowing with beauty. You can go at the height of summer to soak in all the greenery or head there now to capture all the fall foliage on camera.

The falls are so massive that they're split in two — Upper Whitewater Falls and Lower Whitewater Falls. You'll have to head to South Carolina to access the Lower Whitewater Falls, but the Upper Falls are still exceptional.

You don't even have to work hard to get to the best views either. It's about 0.6 miles roundtrip, so you'll barely break a sweat. You can observe the waterfall from the top observation deck, or you can descend a flight of 154 stair steps and get an even better view.

If that wasn't enough of a climb for you, you can access the 76-mile Foothills Trail from the base of the stairs, where you can wade in the water of the Whitewater River. As a plus, this extensive hike takes you to the Lower Whitewater Falls as well.

You can witness this magnificent feat of nature for only $3 per vehicle. Bring your four-legged friends too, because they're welcome here year-round.

In life it's often been said to go off the beaten path, but that saying doesn't apply here. For your safety, only travel on marked & paved paths.

We highly encourage chasing more waterfalls, so take a road trip to Georgia to discover this emerald green waterfall or to Tennessee for this 256-foot waterfall — you deserve it!

Upper Whitewater Falls
